Bride leaning on groom outside after their wedding ceremony

Beautiful Spring Wedding at Joondalup Resort- Natasha and Jonathan

Flying all the way over from Tassie for their wedding day meant Natasha and Jonathan had to be super organised in the lead up to make sure all the hurdles had been jumped long before their big day. My hat definitely goes off to them since it is no easy task and the day was absolutely perfect, even the fine spring weather made a very welcome appearance.

The grooms men and friends were in fine form, having a right laugh while they were endeavouring to dress themselves…..and each other. There is nothing like a bit of banter to settle the nerves before they made their way to Joondalup Resort for the ceremony.

It was a pleasure being with Natasha and her gorgeous bridesmaids capturing the calm before the storm of her big day. A few deep breaths and off we go.

Once Natasha came into view wearing her elegant Maggie Sottero gown, the boys settled quickly with Jonathan looking like the cat who got the cream (and rightly so).

The ceremony proceeded full of emotion with the perfect amount of laughs and tears from those close to them. After the ceremony hugs were flowing everywhere, not just for the bride and the groom but spread between the guests showing that heart felt feeling of belonging that weddings can bring.

With everyone in high spirits if was off around the beautiful grounds of Joondalup Resort for some fun times with the bridal party. Great location choice, so many beautiful backdrops without ever having to get in a car and take on the traffic.

It was simply wonderful to watch these two people join their lives together through the lens of the camera, what a joy to be a part of. Thanks Tash and Johno. xxx Eternity Photography

Couples portrait shoot at Scarborough Beach

Couple portrait session at Scarborough Beach

Couple portrait session at Scarborough Beach with Luke and Annabel

One balmy evening at the beach in the life of Luke and Annabel. What a beautiful night it was for a Couple portrait session at Scarborough Beach. It started off innocent enough until Annabel had other ideas and Luke gave in to her need to go for a refreshing evening swim. What a wonderful reminder for how good life is here in sunny Western Australia.

Wedding Photography at the Leeuwin Estate, Margaret River in Western Australia

We are opening a photography studio in Margaret River to run alongside our successful Perth studio. As part of our preparations I travelled to this beautiful region to check out the wineries and meet up with some of the locals.

I visited the Leeuwin Estate, one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district to meet up with the lovely Rachael, who manages the weddings and functions.  Driving in through the estate along a windy lane past the endless vineyards it was clear why this is a highly sought after destination to celebrate your wedding day.  I was here to scope out some great locations for photography and to pinpoint where I will be creating memorable natural images for my clients.

By the time I had entered the restaurant my head was buzzing with ideas for great images. The view from the balcony is made for either relaxing with a glass of wine or for someone like myself, getting very excited with my camera. The lawned area that meets a forrest of beautifully straight and very tall gum trees has a tranquil beauty that I love. I shot here in the late afternoon at a time that bridal shots would take place. The light is so soft and warm, perfect for portrait photography. Added to this, the soft natural colours of the forrest and vineyard, everything you need to create the style of natural photographs that have a subtlety which is very powerful.

I have met a lot of really genuine and nice people so far in Margaret River and Rachael is certainly one of them. Firstly she loved my images which was very cool and also during a hectic part of the day she took time to chat and help me find my feet. She told me where the best locations were on the estate which really helped. I have to say that with the stunning views, amazing food on show and great wine this really is a top spot to work and all the staff seemed to be well aware of that.

I will certainly be popping in again to say hi and taking some more shots. I am very excited about the images that I will be able to capture here. My style is very creative, natural and I love images with people within a landscape. For a bride and groom the best news is that you do not have to walk far to get a great range of images that will compliment each other beautifully. I think that is important and a great benefit to the Leeuwin Estate, in a relatively short space of time you can have some memorable wedding photographs and be back celebrating with your guests.

Romantic portraits around Indiana Tea Rooms and Cottesloe Beach

The Indiana Tea rooms in Cottesloe has to be one of the ultimate beach locations in Perth for wedding and romantic couples portraits.  In the 1920s, on the expansive lawns in front, the first tea house hosted couples dancing cheek to cheek and silent movies. This beautiful iconic building overlooks the Indian Ocean and there is little to wonder why this has become a favourite location for wedding and portrait photography. Here are some of my favourite pics from this photo shoot on the beach with Mark and Helen.

John Rice – wedding photography

Daniel and Meagan,

Wow, what a wonderful day I had with this beautiful couple. When you are so positive and happy everything seems to just slot into place and that is exactly what happened. I really enjoyed building a story with my photographs and capturing the feeling of love and celebration. The wedding ceremony was at Matilda Bay amongst those gorgeous trees and river views. We had so much fun with the bridal party and family as they all hung around for photos and it was clearly evident from getting to know their parents where Dan and Meagan have got their positive outlook on life. Later on we headed over to the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club and we got some really fun images. Dan is flying supply Chinook helicopters in Afghanistan so he wanted some funny shots with the old canon at the Yacht club. I really love the image on the jetty with all the beautiful colours in the water, lets just say Meagan was pretty excited when I showed her the back of my camera.

Romantic couples photography at one of Perth’s many beautiful beaches

Romantic couples portrait photography at one of Perth's many beautiful beachesJacinta + Brent

When Jacinta and Brent approached Eternity back in October they said that they were after something that looked natural and captured their connection in a genuine way. As a photographer that’s exactly what we try to do, we work, we play, we explore, we create moments in which we can bring out the genuine emotion that you feel for each other and compress it all into a single frame. Blessed with an amazing sunset Jacinta and Brent’s portrait session was great and we really look forward to your wedding in October 2011.

Natural wedding photography in Perth and Western Australia

Hugh + Anna

From the moment go I knew there was going to be something special about Hugh and Anna’s wedding but little did I know it would totally exceed all my expectations. These two had such an amazing connection. They seemed like old friends that have been catapulted into a child like state, photographing their wedding was just such a joy.

Romantic portraits in Fremantle.

I really enjoyed this portrait session in Fremantle. I often find that with couples they really enjoy how I make the portrait session experience lots of fun, we just have a chat and walk around the streets and pause for shots along the way. It’s a great job and I love meeting new people. At a certain point of the session everyone is just having fun, the self conscious barriers  are now down and the portraits are “real”.

A good photographer can use composition and light to create visually pleasing photographs. A great portrait photographer can do all of this and also reveal the characters of those people that they photograph. This is what makes great portraits or “real” portraits. I feel that they are timeless because they are honest.

When I pick up a camera, I want to deliver “real” portraits. There is no better feeling than when you have achieved this as a portrait photographer.

Couples Portraits in Perth, Western Australia

Fremantle is a great place for couples portraits, there are so many cool alleyways and funky cafe’s to work in. I do heaps of weddings in Fremantle  and it is one of my favourite locations. We go for a walk, have a chat and take some really beautiful portraits. That’s my job and I love it! Since I have joined the Australian Institute of Professional Photography I have been striving to push my boundaries and create some really amazing work. I went to an AIPP workshop at Kulcha in Fremantle this week and it was great to be surrounded by other passionate artists. There were some big names in the Australian Photographic industry there, all really nice people. I left that meeting with a promise to myself to always push my creativity to a higher level each time I pick up my camera. It must have worked because I shot some of the best wedding photographs of my career yesterday at the South Foreshore in Perth. I was so into it that I kept shooting way over the booked coverage. I will Post those images up next week.Fremantle Portraits.
