Creative and Natural approach to your wedding photography

Creative and Natural approach to your wedding photography

I love this photograph taken at Caleb and Dimitty’s wedding at Caversham House. I love it because it epitomises what we as a studio are striving to give our clients. This is a split second moment that can be easily missed if you are not looking. It’s so easy for a wedding photographer to be thinking ahead to the family photos and switch off and miss this shot. Our photographers are very passionate about giving our clients this type of photograph. Your wedding day is not about squeezing you into our shot list that we perform every weekend. Your wedding day is a beautiful one off story. Something so amazing and unique deserves a creative and natural approach to your wedding photography.

Excited groom at Caversham House in the Swan Valley

In this photograph Caleb and Dimitty have just been pronounced husband and wife on the beautiful main stairway at Caversham House in the Swan valley. As they walk away our photographer has caught a brief moment where Caleb looks to Dimitty with an excited expression on his face, there is a hint of “wow we have done it yah!” to this photograph. Imagine what this photograph means to Dimity, her husband looks so happy and excited to be with her, she can re live that moment when ever she wants. I know that as life moves on it is these genuine moments captured that mean so much to me.

Sure, the directed photograph is essential at your wedding, family photographs organised well are fantastic. Bridal shots can be fun and natural with direction. Our photographers know how long to do it for so it is an enjoyable experience. It is not good practise to be shooting for the sake of shooting when really you have lots of great bridal shots already. This means you can spend longer with your friends and family and we can photograph the real moments like this, the fun, the laughter shared on an amazing day.

Caversham House is a photographers dream wedding venue

Caversham House is a photographers dream wedding venue

This is part one of a series of blog posts outlining why Caversham House is a dream come true for wedding photographers. The Swan valley has so many amazing venue options, some are bigger than others. They all have wonderful, unique characteristics that offer engaged couples the perfect setting when looking for a wedding venue.

I am going to give you a wedding photographers perspective as to why Caversham House is such a great option for you. I personally have been photographing weddings for twenty years and I have seen the gardens develop into an amazing multi levelled award winning property. The perfect scenario for a couple that want very natural wedding photographs is to choose a venue where you do not have to leave your guests for photos. Our studio attracts clients that want natural shots of them and their guests enjoying their day. We are experts at helping our clients get the best mix of natural and directed photos. Having already booked a venue like Caversham makes this so much easier to achieve.

What I love about Caversham House is that there are thirty to fifty different beautiful scenes to photograph a bridal party or bride and groom all within a short distance. This is perfect because the brides shoes can get hard to walk around in, flowers can get heavy and then theres the esky. So having the luxury of a variety of scenes close by is wonderful and a big thumbs up.

Here are some shots taken at the staircase near the beautiful waterfall. The ivory tones of the limestone is the perfect compliment to a white wedding dress. The ivory creeping up the walls and beautiful big trees towering behind create depth and a variety of textures that keeps us engaged in the photograph. Caversham House really is a photographers dream wedding venue

Documentary wedding photos showing emotions

Documentary wedding photos

We photographed a beautiful wedding in Alice Springs. Caterina and Michael are a gorgeous couple that clearly have a strong connection with their family and friends. Our style of wedding photography is about documenting the story of each wedding day. To do this well, our photographers have to be passionate about story telling and have an understanding when people will reveal their emotions. Here are some photographs that show the close bond between family and friends. It can be as subtle as a proud expression on a grandmothers face or as spontaneous as laughter and tears. Whatever it is, we will be there ready to record these moments for you, so you can always re live and enjoy them. This is what we love to do and this is our passion.

Scott and Shani’s wedding at Queens Gardens in Perth

Scott and Shani were married at the beautiful Queens Gardens in Perth. There are some fantastic examples of wonderful scenes within the park for photographs and how much fun the photography experience can be. I particularly love how there are so many wonderful genuine moments captured that will help Scott and Shani relive their wedding day.

Steven and Peta’s Wedding Day

It was a pleasure to be a part of Steven and Peta’s wedding day, full of family, friends and laughter. The ceremony was held at St Mary’s Cathedral which filled with the glorious spring light that followed us around all day. I highly recommend anyone going in for a look if they are passing to experience the vastness…..and my favourite…the green door (you will know what I mean).

The ceremony was followed by dancing at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow of course and then off to East Perth and its beautiful backdrops.

What better place to wind up your wedding photo shoot than at Patersons Stadium in Subiaco. A really cool and different backdrop where the bridal party worked up an appetite for the reception.

Beautiful Spring Wedding at Joondalup Resort- Natasha and Jonathan

Flying all the way over from Tassie for their wedding day meant Natasha and Jonathan had to be super organised in the lead up to make sure all the hurdles had been jumped long before their big day. My hat definitely goes off to them since it is no easy task and the day was absolutely perfect, even the fine spring weather made a very welcome appearance.

The grooms men and friends were in fine form, having a right laugh while they were endeavouring to dress themselves…..and each other. There is nothing like a bit of banter to settle the nerves before they made their way to Joondalup Resort for the ceremony.

The ceremony proceeded full of emotion with the perfect amount of laughs and tears from those close to them. After the ceremony hugs were flowing everywhere, not just for the bride and the groom but spread between the guests showing that heart felt feeling of belonging that weddings can bring.

With everyone in high spirits if was off around the beautiful grounds of Joondalup Resort for some fun times with the bridal party. Great location choice, so many beautiful backdrops without ever having to get in a car and take on the traffic.

Wedding Photography in the Vineyards in the Swan Valley

You really can’t go past the opportunity of having your wedding day in the Swan Valley, one of Perth’s most picturesque treasures any time of the year. The Swan Valley provides such a contrast to everyones busy lives, getting out into the countryside for some quiet time together. It’s no wonder so many bride and grooms choose the vineyards and wineries in Perth and the Swan Valley for their wedding day. There is something incredibly romantic about playing in the rows of vines.

5 steps in Wedding Shoes

So it is all about the dress? I think not! Shoes play an important part on your wedding day, they help you look elegant, compliment your dress, hide funny toes, expose little tattoos, but most of all hold you up on one of the most special days you will experience. Choose the right shoes for you and remember heels are not your only option.

IMG_shoes

  1. Think about where you are going to be, heels do not work on beaches or stone walkways.
  2. Have your shoes ready well before your final dress fittings so the length of the dress is not a guessing game.
  3. Break in your shoes, whether they are heels or not you don’t want to be wearing them for the first time on your wedding day. Start a couple of months in advance if you can and practice, practice, practice.
  4. You can wear colour. If you’re wearing a very traditional wedding dress, remember you can make a statement with your shoes. You don’t have to wear white or ivory – you could make a visual splash with scarlet heels – or any colour you fancy.
  5.  If you are wearing heels, take a cute pair of flats for the reception later in the night, your calf muscles and feet will thank you as you set off for your honeymoon.

Ultimately, wear the wedding shoes that are best for you, be true to your style and be comfortable. After all you want to have fun!
